Abu Dhabi is at its best from November to March, when mild, sunny days are ideal for the beaches, the desert and the Corniche, and the city hosts its biggest events — this is the peak, most popular season. Summers are very hot and humid, which makes them the most affordable time, with generous hotel deals and the famous Yas Island theme parks offering cool, indoor-and-water fun. The shoulder months of April, May, October and November offer warm weather with friendlier prices.

Abu Dhabi is spread across the mainland and its islands, and most visitors get around by taxi or ride-hailing, which are plentiful and metered. An extensive, modern public-bus network links the city with the airport, Yas Island and Saadiyat Island, and Yas Island sits just a short drive from Zayed International Airport. The islands are designed for easy car and shuttle access, so a taxi or hotel shuttle is usually the simplest way between attractions.
